Did you know that since unemployment insurance expired in December, over 2 million Americans and 178,000 New Yorkers have lost their benefits? We can’t let this continue. Please join me and add your name to demand that the House act now and pass the Senate’s bill restoring unemployment insurance.

Today, April 8th, is the day that the average working woman will have caught up to what a man earned in 2013, in the same job. That is an extra 98 days! It’s downright embarrassing that we need to hold an Equal Pay Day devoted to bringing attention to this fact -- but we do. Please join me and add your name to this petition calling for basic paycheck fairness immediately so that your daughters and mine can grow up in a world where they will get equal pay for equal work.

It is outrageous that in 2014 – 2014 – a woman can still be paid less than one of her male counterparts for the exact same work.

The Senate finally passed a bipartisan bill restoring unemployment insurance -- an essential lifeline for American families. But if the House doesn’t act, another 70,000 Americans will lose their benefits every week. We can’t let this bill die. Join me to demand that Congress acts.

Have you seen the budget Paul Ryan proposed last week? It would drastically cut funding to things like education, Medicaid, food stamps and public works – all while raising taxes for middle-class families and giving tax cuts to the wealthiest one percent. Ryan’s budget aims to marginalize the middle class and give even more power to the rich – it’s absolutely outrageous.

"Nan [Hayworth] is Westchester’s answer to Sarah Palin: a Tea Party talking-points robot.” This is the kind of quote (and article!) that opens eyes, stays with you and reminds me why I’m fighting so hard to win this race. We can’t have another Tea Party ally representing us in Congress!

I actually can’t believe what I’m hearing, but here it is in black and white (and SoundCloud): Michele Bachmann declaring that “the gay community” has “bullied the American people” and “intimidated politicians.” Although frustrating and completely inaccurate, it’s comments like this that fire me up, fuel me through the toughest moments on the campaign trail, and remind me why I’m fighting so hard to keep my seat in Washington.
